Peter R. Huntowski

Peter was born on April 6th, 1929, in Chicago, Illinois to Peter John and Helen (Olinski) Huntowski. On June 9th, 1951 he was united in marriage to Dolores Kolasinski in Chicago, Illinois.

Peter joined the US Navy in 1945 where he went to amphibian’s school. After his discharge from the US Navy, he joined the Army Air Corp in 1946 where he was a tail gunner on a B29 bomber. He was discharged in 1950 from the United States Air Force.

In 1981, he began working for Louisiana Pacific in Hayward and retired from there after 11 years. He was an Ordained Deacon for the Superior Diocese and served the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Minong and St. Francis de Sales in Spooner. He was also a 4th degree Knights of Columbus member of the Holy Trinity Council 5397. Peter enjoyed fishing, trains, the outdoors and the Chicago Cubs but he mostly enjoyed spending time with his family and reminiscing about the ‘good ole days’.

Peter is survived by his wife of 60 years, Dolores. His children: Judy Colegrove of Spooner, Eileen (Lee) Coons, Tom Huntowski and Brian Huntowski, all of Minong, seven grandchildren: Jeff, Danny, Stefanie, Joe, Olivia, Shelly and Jake and eight great-grandchildren: Allison, Victoria, Gavin, Austin, Brock, Grace, Ashley and Josh.

Peter is preceded in death by his parents, sisters: Loretta Frys and Dorothy Kozak, and son-in-law, Dan Colegrove.
