Barbara L. Clemons

Barbara was born on March 9, 1931 to Ruth and Richard Gross in Bellevue, Ohio. Barbara had a sister, Nancy, whom she loved dearly.

Barbara was very active as a child in both school and church. As a student she was an editor for the newspaper, a majorette in the band, a member of the Thespians and National Honor Society. Her church loyalty began as a child and guided her adult and married life.

After graduating from Central High School in Bellevue, Ohio in 1949 Barbara met the love of her life and married Dr. Paul Howard Clemons on July 14, 1951. They were married 9 months before Paul left to serve in the Army. After returning from service Paul and Barbara moved to Willmore, Kentucky where Paul attended Asbury College. Paul and Barbara’s first son Paul S. “Steve” was born shortly after followed by Timothy and Deborah and their angel baby Elizabeth.

Barbara served her church community alongside Paul as the pastor, first in Defiance, OH followed by St. Petersburg, FL then finally Spring Hill, FL. She lead with a servants heart and provided support as a Sunday School Teacher, Camp Leader and Vacation Bible School Director. Barbara later led Women’s Bible Studies, acted as an Elder of her church, lead the Union Committee and served as the church Treasurer and Secretary. Her love for our Lord and Savior was her guiding light.

Through the years, Barbara enjoyed serving her community, leading groups and organizations, traveling and spending time with her family. Barbara found joy in sharing the word of the Lord and gave a testimony every chance she could. Her lifelong successes, challenges and happiness were all authentically and wholeheartedly provided by our Savior.

Barbara is predeceased by her loving husband Paul, daughter Elizabeth and granddaughter Michelle. She is survived by her sons Steve and Timothy and daughter Deborah as well as 6 grandchildren (Kristen, Justin, Jessica, Kelsey, Lacey and Aubrey) and 10 great grandchildren (Matthew, Joshua, Nathan, Dominic, Xander, Kyrstin, Mylie, Mia, Ethan and Johnathan).

A memorial service for Barbara L. Clemons will be held at Turner Funeral Home (14360 Spring Hill Dr. Spring Hill, FL 34609. There will be visitation held on Saturday, November 5, 2022 from 9:00-11:00am followed by a service.
