Born in Marion, Indiana, Donna grew up in Gas City where she graduated from Mississinewa High School. She loved reminiscing about what seems to have been an idyllic childhood, of the beautiful gardens in her neighborhood, and maintained many long-time friendships from those heady days.
In about 1979 Donna moved to Hernando County, FL, and eventually settled in Brooksville. She had many occupations but excelled in the secretarial/clerical field, where she worked as a Records Clerk 2 in the Probate Department at the Pasco County Circuit Court. She enjoyed visiting the Walt Disney World theme parks, collecting Hallmark Christmas ornaments, was a fan of medieval fantasy, loved nature – whether it was watching it from her backyard or cuddling up with her “fur babies,” and especially, her family – both by relation and by choice. Donna will be remembered for her sharp wit, deep empathy, and caring ways. She always knew the right things to say.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Donald Max West, and Dorothy May (Foreman) West. She is survived by her loving husband, Durwood L. Walker; step-daughters, Stephanie Walker of Brooksville, Brenda Hancock (James) of Tavares, FL, and grandchildren Makenna, Daia, Lucien, Gabriel and Hunter; nephews, Joshua and Shane Walker; niece, Jessica Daniels; numerous extended family members; her unofficial “kid,” Christine Toth, and her many friends and co-workers.
A celebration of Donna’s life has been scheduled for August, Saturday 17, at the Community United Methodist Church, 32606 Michigan Avenue, San Antonio, FL, from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to PetLuv Non-Profit Spay & Neuter Clinic of Brooksville, Florida: 7348 S.
