Dorothy Jean Chapman

Dorothy J. “Dotty” (Demars) Chapman, age 73, of Spring Hill, FL. died on Saturday, August 27, 2016, at Consulate Health Care of Bayonet Point. Dotty was a 28-year resident, coming from Plymouth, MA and originating from her native Brockton, MA. Born on January 12, 1943, to the late Leslie C. & Callie Mae (Harris) Demars. Dotty served in the US Navy as a Personnelman (PN3), in the enlisted records department from 1961-65. She also worked in electronic assembly in Brockton, MA and as a Certified Nurse’s Aide in New Orleans, LA before coming to Florida. Dotty was a superlative homemaker and was well known for her baking and for decorating cakes. Dorothy was Southern Baptist by faith, and a member of the Hicks Road Baptist Church in Hudson, FL. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents: sister, Elizabeth Ann West, brothers: Carlton Demars, Joseph Demars, and infant brother John Robert Demars. Dotty is lovingly survived by her husband of 51years, Reverend Fred W. Chapman of Spring Hill, FL, sons: Mark William Chapman of Portland, OR, and Jason Aaron Turon, of San Francisco, CA. and by daughter, Melissa Jean Chapman, of Spring Hill, FL. Also survived by daughter-in-law Bethany Turon, granddaughters, Audri Turon and Ember Turon, all of San Francisco, CA. Dotty also leaves behind her brother John Thomas Demars and his wife Ilnar of Spring Hill, FL., nephews Joshua Demars and Samuel Demars, and niece Isabella Demars, and her sister-in-law Doreen Demars, all of Spring Hill. Dorothy’s family and friends will gather for visitation at the Turner Funeral Home, 14360 Spring Hill Drive, Spring Hill, FL 34609. The visitation will be held from 2-4 & 6-8 PM on Monday, September 5, 2016. A brief gathering will be held on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 from 9:30 -10:00 am at the Hicks Road Baptist Church 12219 Hicks Road, Hudson, FL with the Celebration of Life Service to begin at 10 AM, with Pastor Andrew McCray and Rev. Fred W. Chapman officiating. Graveside Committal Blessings by Pastor McCray, and Military Honors performed by the VFW 10209 of Spring Hill, FL. will follow at the Florida National Cemetery, in Bushnell, FL.
