He was born in Upper Darby, PA on August 20, 1937. He was married to Mary Judith Pomeroy on November 7, 1959.
Ed (as he was known by many) worked in the Building Industry for many years with Hedden Construction then after retiring, he ventured out on his own as one of the highest demand custom woodworkers in the area. There was always a waiting list for his services. Ed adored his wife (of over 60 years) and children and was a devoted husband and father. He had many hobbies but was most passionate about coaching Youth League Football. Ed touched so many young lives as a coach and in such a positive manner that a few went on to play professional football. He also loved gardening and would grow the most beautiful gardens in town. Ed also loved homing pigeons since his teenage years and that hobby continued into his adult years. He loved fishing! He loved animals! And he was particularly fond of the German Shepard as the family dog. Another great passion was his dedication and loyalty to the Green Bay Packers! He followed them without ever straying since the age of 10! Ed Preston was a man of Character, Morals, AND a Man of his word. When he shook your hand and made a gentlemen's agreement you knew you could trust him to follow through with his word. His actions clearly demonstrated that! Ed was so very well liked and respected in his community and life.
