James “Jim” Harold Horton, age 78, died March 17, 2026. Born September 6, 1947, in Olney, Maryland, he later made his home in Spring Hill, Florida. Jim will be remembered as a beloved presence in the lives of those who knew him.
Jim graduated from Mergenthaler Vocational-Technical High School, where he received his high school diploma.
Jim served on active duty in the United States Air Force, attaining the rank of Sergeant. He later worked as a Captain with the Fort Meade Fire Department, a role that reflected his steady commitment to service and responsibility.
On July 22, 1995, Jim married Lynne Horton. He is survived by his son, Joseph Horton; his stepsons, Chris Czekala and Brian Czekala; and his grandchildren, Christopher Czekala, Jakob Czekala, Ellie Czekala, Michael Czekala, Zachary Czekala, Ava Czekala, and Alexander Czekala.
Jim’s personal interests included a passion for bowling, politics, and baseball, he especially loved the Orioles and the Ravens.
Jim will be laid to rest at Florida National Cemetery.
