.Jorge Manuel Pereira, age 69, of Spring Hill, Florida died on Thursday, December 29, 2016, at his home. Jorge was a 12 years resident of Spring Hill, coming from Fall River, MA. where he worked as a union laborer, mainly in road construction. Jorge was born on February 16, 1947, in Furnas, St. Michael, Azores, Portugal, to the late Joao & Maria Espirito (Santo) Pereira. Before coming to the United States, he served in the Portuguese Army. Jorge enjoyed hunting in the Azores, he loved to salt water fishing, and his greatest passion after his family was soccer, he loved to play and his favorite team was Benfica. Jorge was Roman Catholic by faith. Jorge was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Maria Angos Borges, sister, Maria Da Conceico Silva, and brother, Lariano Pereira. Jorge is lovingly survived by his wife of 45 years, Maria J. (Almeidia) Pereira, who he married in Portugal on December 12, 1971. Also survived by his daughter, Michelle (William) Perez, of Fall River, MA. son, Richard Pereira, of Spring Hill, FL. and granddaughters, Kadin Rodriguez Malei Rodriguez, both of Fall River, MA. Jorge will be greatly missed by his sisters, Maria Lurdes Borges, of British Columbia, CAN. and Ana Pimentel of Toronto, CAN. Funeral arrangements and care are entrusted to the Turner Funeral Home, 14360 Spring Hill Drive, Spring Hill, FL 34609. Jorge’s family and friends will gather for visitation on Thursday, January 5, 2017, from 4-8 pm. A Wake Service will be held at 7pm. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday January, 6, 2017, at St, Francis Cabrini Catholic Church at 11am. Committal prayers and burial will follow the mass at Florida Hills Memorial Gardens, in Spring Hill.
