

Marie C. Morrell, 97, of Spring Hill, Florida passed away Friday December 13, 2019. She was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Stephen and Catherine Horvath. She married the love of her life, Santino (Sandy) in 1943 in Philadelphia. Sandy was honorably discharged from the military service two years later. Marie worked as a secretary for Sears & Roebuck while raising her four sons. In 1967 they moved to Mt. Laurel, N.J. where Marie worked for many years as a manager for Richmond Dairy. Later on, the Morrell Family moved to Delran, N.J. where they spent several years.
Sandy’s declining health prompted them to leave their family and friends and move to Spring Hill in 1975. It didn’t take Marie long to start making friends and making a difference in her new community by volunteering. A few of her accomplishments are:
Oak Hill Hospital (1984-2010) 26 years- Marie held many positions and made a lot of people smile at Oak Hill. In 2004 she was awarded the Frist Humanitarian Award which was an honor she accepted humbly. Marie was also past President of the Volunteer Association always looking for ways to increase the volunteer base and have some fun doing it.
Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post 10209-20 years- Held various positions in addition to being a Chaplain there. In 2003 she received the Volunteer of the Year award.
SPCA, St. Vincent DePaul Thrift Store, Poll worker for Hernando county, Enrichment Center volunteer, St. Frances Cabrini church member etc…..
Survived by her sons James Morrell; Sandy, Morrell, Jr. (Sharlene); John Morrell (Cheryl); Vincent Morrell (Debbie); many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 2PM Thursday, December 19th with one hour of visitation prior to the service at Turner Funeral Home 14360 Spring Hill Dr. Spring Hill, FL. 34609. Committal service will follow to Florida Hills Memorial Gardens in Spring Hill.
