Michael Carbillano, 72, of Spring Hill, passed away unexpectedly on June 17, 2025, at his residence. He is survived by his wife Gina Carbillano, his sons Michael Carbillano, Christopher Carbillano and Dillon Gilleece. He is preceded in death by his parents William Carbillano and Lucille Carbillano, nee Altamuro, his brother Richard Carbillano and his son Anthony Colabella.
Mike was born in Yonkers, NY on September 22, 1952. After graduating from Yonkers High School, he began working for the Westchester County Parks Department as a groundskeeper. Against his father’s advice to keep a job with stable benefits and a pension, he quit the County to become his own boss and started mowing lawns out of a 1972 Chevy Camaro. With a strong work ethic and an ability to deliver for his clients both professionally and personally, he quickly needed to upgrade to a fleet of trucks. He continued growing M. Carbillano Landscaping & Masonry over several decades, becoming a pillar of the local community through his business and civic engagements. He was on the Board of Directors for the Yonkers Chamber of Commerce where he provided support to small local businesses.
He married the love of his life, Gina Carbillano, on March 24, 2002. For over two decades, Mike and Gina’s loving marriage was characterized by unwavering commitment and partnership. Above all, they were best friends: whether it was operating a business, raising children, or simply enjoying an ice cream sundae on the couch, they did everything together as a loving team.
Outside of work, Mike found joy in riding the bike, expertly maintaining a pristine lawn and car, enjoying leisurely pool days with the dogs, and sharing his home and time with friends and family. Those who knew Mike will remember him for his dependability, generosity and easy-going spirit. Mike was never afraid of hard work and did everything with honesty and integrity. He left a lasting impression on every soul that crossed his path and will be missed dearly by all who knew him.
Private funeral arrangements will be held at Dignity Memorial.
