

Michael E. Higgins, age 81, of Spring Hill, FL., died on Saturday, October 24t, 2015. Michael was born on March 31st, 1934 in Detroit, MI. to the late Edward and Pauline (Demery) Higgins. Michael moved to Odessa Florida in 1990 from Stamford Connecticut to take a job as VP for Chromalloy Gas Turbine Components Division. He later retired to Spring Hill in 2003. Michael worked in the Aerospace Industry for over 55 years originally starting his career as an Aerospace Engineer. He worked for such companies as Pratt & Whitney, G.E., Howmet and finished his career with Chromalloy Gas Turbine Components. He also served as General Manager for Howmet’s gas turbine manufacturing group in LaPorte Indiana and was later promoted to Senior VP of Marketing based in Greenwich Connecticut.
Michael was a veteran of the US Air Force Reserves for several years retiring in 1963. Michael was preceded in death by his parents; and recently by his sister, Mary Lyons. Michael was Roman Catholic by Faith and a longtime member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, in Spring Hill. Michael is lovingly survived by his wife of 54 years, Allie (Colbert) Higgins, who he married in 1961, in Manchester, CT. surviving are his children; son Michael J. Higgins, and his wife, Annemieke Hulsman-Higgins of Raalte, The Netherlands, daughter, Ann Wick and her husband Dan, of south Lyon, MI. son, Paul Higgins, of Wesley Chapel, FL, and Shawn Higgins, of Tampa, FL., and will be greatly missed by his grandchildren; grandson, Michael A. Higgins, granddaughter, Eibhlin T. Higgins, grandson, Anthony J. Higgins, granddaughter, Elizabeth Higgins, granddaughter, Katherine Hagman, granddaughter, Lauren A. Hagman, and grandson, Aaron P. Hagman, and as well by his sister, Julie Arcari, of Clarkson, MI. Michael’s family and friends will gather for a visitation on Thursday, October 29th, 2015, from 2-4 pm at the Turner Funeral Home. A Wake Service will also be held the same day at 3:30pm.
The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church on Friday at 9:30 am with St. Frances Cabrini officiating. The Committal Blessing and entombment will follow at the Florida Hills Memorial Gardens Serenity Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
