A devoted father, minister, wise mentor, and quiet architect of generational blessing, Miguel Angel Reyes entered eternal rest on October 3, 2025, wrapped in the gentle embrace of those who loved him most. In his passing, the seeds he planted continue to bloom—bearing fruit in the lives of those he guided, blessed, and believed in.
Born on January 3, 1935 in Arecibo, Puerto Rico. Miguel's journey from Puerto Rico to New York culminated in a legacy of service, dignity, and quiet leadership as Lead Barber for 22 years at the United States Military Academy, West Point, N.Y. His role as Lead Barber was not just cutting hair, but shaping cadets’ confidence, discipline, and readiness.
During his distinguished 22-year tenure at West Point, he not only exemplified steadfast service and integrity but also deepened his spiritual calling by graduating from the Assembly of God Bible Institute in Newburgh, NY. His commitment to faith and community led him to serve as Interim Senior Pastor at the Newburgh Iglesia de Dios, where his preaching and pastoral care became a beacon of hope. Under his guidance, countless individuals encountered the transformative power of Jesus Christ—awakening to a renewed sense of purpose and the liberating truth that with faith, all things are possible. His ministry was marked by a spirit of restoration, resilience, and radical belief in the goodness of God and the potential within every soul.
He was a devoted husband of Dionisia Hernandez Reyes for 62 wonderful years. Loving father of two daughters, Daisy Vazquez and her husband, Felix Vasquez, and Ibellis Diaz and her husband, Hector Diaz, and one son, Miguel Reyes and his wife, Evelyn Reyes. His devotion to family extended beyond bloodlines, embracing each in-law as a cherished part of the legacy he nurtured with grace, wisdom, and unwavering love.
Adored grandfather of Francesca, Nathaniel, Joel, Tina and Matthew. Adored great-grandfather of Elijah, Isabella, Jayce, Eliana, and Gabriella. He was loved deeply by his family and will be greatly missed.
