It is with great sadness that the family of Patricia “Trish” Roush announce her passing from complications of an illness on April 15, 2022 while surrounded by her loving family. Trish was 55 at the time of her death, or as she often said “29 for the 26th time.”
Trish lived her life with a vibrancy and a passion that touched everyone around her. There wasn’t a room she didn’t brighten as soon as she walked in, and there wasn’t a heart she didn’t touch in some way. She was an immensely kind and selfless person, and dedicated her life to helping others; whether it was through her rescue work as a volunteer EMT and firefighter, her unwavering support of her friends and family, the care and consideration she put into raising her two daughters, and later caring for her granddaughter, or all of the other acts of kindness we can’t possibly detail here, Trish always held out a helping hand and tried to lift others up.
To say she was a good mother and grandmother would be an almost criminal understatement. Trish was an amazing mother who dedicated her life to raising her two daughters, Brittany and Katie, and viewed her work as a mother as her greatest accomplishment. She bestowed upon her daughters the gift of compassion, confidence, and self-assurance in their abilities, and raised them to be strong, independent women, capable of taking on any challenge. Her love for her granddaughter was immeasurable. Once she came along, there was only Amelia for Trish, and Amelia was blessed to spend the first three years of her life with Trish as her daily caregiver.
Trish spent 33 wonderful years with her husband, Brian. Words are inadequate to summarize the love she had for him. She and Brian met in San Francisco in 1988 and she always told her children it was love at first sight, even if she turned down his first dozen or so proposals before finally cutting the poor guy some slack and accepting. She supported Brian through every stage of his career, and always stood proudly by his side through all life threw at them. She and Brian enjoyed numerous hobbies together, including competitive BBQ, chili and steak cooking.
This is nothing to speak of Trish’s creativity (the art she created was always stunning), the ability she had to make any space feel like a home, her entrepreneurial spirit, the sacrifices she made to care for her ailing parents, or the love she had for her Newfoundlands. She was a multi-faceted woman who lived life to its absolute fullest. Trish would hate how much her family is grieving her loss, because she always felt that one should look at death as an excuse to celebrate a loved one who has moved on, but she was too special not to mourn deeply.
Trish’s family will be hosting a celebration of life at a later date and will announce the details once finalized. She requested a big party and by god we will give her a big party. Per her wishes, Trish will not be interred but rather her ashes will be spread across the San Francisco Bay, so she can return to where she met her soulmate and began her journey as a mother.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to Operation BBQ Relief, a nonprofit with which Trish was very actively involved.
Please share a fond memory of Trish here.
