

Born on October 11, 1943, in Bronx, New York Richard was the son of Patrick Ambrose Nestor and Mary (Leary) Nestor.
He proudly served in the US Army for two years and was stationed in South Korea. After serving in the Army, he pursued his education at John Jay College, preparing him for a career in law enforcement. He followed in the footsteps of his father, Patrick, a First Grade Detective, and his brother John, a police officer, who were already working for the New York City Police Department. He also had numerous other family members that served as police officers with the NYPD. He graduated from the New York City Police Academy and began a distinguished career. Richard eventually retired from the New York City Police Department; he served in the Anti-Crime Unit in the 41st precinct, also known as "Fort Apache."
Richard was married to his loving wife, Kathryn Anne (Nieto) Nestor, for 60 years. He is survived by his son, Rich, daughter in law Joli, as well as his son, Joe, and partner Jenn. He "Papa" was blessed with two cherished grandchildren, Payton Nestor and Trace Nestor, who were his everything! He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
He was the last to pass of his four brothers, Patrick (Sonny), John (Buddy), Brendan, Jimmy, and his five sisters, AnnMarie (Anna), Eileen, Teresa, Frannie, and Maureen.
He was an awesome father, grandfather, and role model. He was witty, had a great sense of humor and was fiercely loyal to those he loved. He will forever be missed and always thought of with love. Until we meet again!
