Richard L. Smith “Ricky,” age 81, of Hudson Beach, FL, passed away on Saturday, July 6th in Land O’ Lakes, FL. He was born in Queens, NY on March 31st, 1943. On February 14th, 1971, Richard married Christine Smith in the state of New York.
Richard proudly served his country in the Marine Corp, and further served as a police officer in the NYPD from 1967 to 1981. He was a member of the 10-13 PBA, as well as the Loyal Order Moose Club.
Richard is preceded in death by his wife, Christine Smith, as well as his brothers James Smith and Russel Smith.
Richard is survived by his daughter, Kelly Martini and her husband Christopher Martini, his son Brian Smith, his grandchildren, McKenna Martini, Julielynn Buchan, Kristopher Smith, Emily Smith and Faith Smith, as well as his siblings, William Smith, George Smith and Patricia Fisher.
Services for Richard will be held at Turner Funeral Home on Saturday, July 13th, with a visitation from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 2:00 p.m., with burial at Florida Hills Memorial Gardens at 3:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made in Richard’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association, or to Baldomero Lopez Veterans' Nursing Home in Land O’ Lakes, FL.
