Archbald, Sholto John “Archie,” 97, of Spring Hill, entered into rest on January 25, 2019. Sholto was born to the late Ernest and Nora (Lemessy) Archbald in Guayaguayare, Trinidad and Tobago. He worked as a power plant mechanic with Texaco Oil Refinery, Trinidad and Tobago; Hess Oil Company, St Croix, USVI; ConEdison, NY; and Florida Crush Stone, Brooksville. He loved all sports, telling stories, and gardening. He was a very giving man who loved helping others. He often supplied friends with fresh fruits and vegetables from his garden. He was predeceased by his sister, Gladys Archbald-Babel; brother, Francis Archbald; sister in law Rita Raphael; and brothers-in-law, Neville and Earl Murrien.
Archie is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Phyllis; their six children (four sons and two daughters) - Frank Archbald (spouse Sharleen) of NC, Franklyn Archbald (spouse Dyllis) of MD, Bert Archbald of Trinidad and Tobago, Nora Archbald and Wendy Acosta both of GA and Randolph Archbald (spouse Kathyann) of NY; 10 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Lucille Hernandez (Montreal Canada); several nephews and nieces; and relatives of the Lemessy family (Trinidad and Tobago).
The family will receive friends at the Turner Funeral Home Spring Hill Chapel, 14360 Spring Hill Drive, Spring Hill, FL, on Friday, February 1, 2019 from 6 pm to 8 pm. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 2, 2019, at 9:30 am at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, Spring Hill, FL.
