

Simon P. DaLomba, 79, of Spring Hill, FL passed away on Friday, Nov. 24, 2017 at Tampa General Hospital, Tampa, Florida, surrounded by his family. A native of Brava, Cabo Verde Islands, he was born on April 22, 1938 to Aires and Belmira DaLomba. Simon immigrated to the United States in April of 1966 and settled in East Providence, RI where he owned a construction Company, DaLomba and Son Inc., and relocated to Florida in 1988. Simon had many talents and was a master carpenter. His most proud accomplishments were building several churches during his lifetime, including his devoted church of recent years, the Berean Assembly of God in Spring Hill, Florida. Simon was passionate about his faith in the Lord, he loved gardening and growing fruits and vegetables to share with neighbors. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with family and friends. He devoted his talents and resources to advance the Gospel of Jesus Christ. In addition to his parents, Simon was preceded in death by his wife Beatrice on Aug. 16, 2015; brother John Lomba and a brother-in-law, Francisco DePina. He is survived by his children: David Roderick (wife Laurie), Seekonk, MA; John Lomba (wife Genie), South Windsor, CT; Beatriz Tavares (husband Danny), Pawtucket, RI; and Maria Gilmete, Rumford, RI; siblings Carlota DePina, Ana Ledo (husband Joao) from Springhill, FL and Maria DaLomba, Providence, RI; ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren, as well as numerous loving nieces and nephews. Friends will be received on Tues., Nov. 28, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Turner Funeral Home, 14360 Spring Hill Drive, Spring Hill FL 34609, where a celebration of Simon’s life will take place on Wed., Nov. 29, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. officiated by Pastor Gary Osborne of Berean Assembly of God Church.
