
Bill Estes, born on March 21, 1936, died peacefully at home on May 18, 2016 under the care of Hospice. Bill served in the Army during the Korean War. After his service, he worked as a civilian employee at Westover Air Force Base in Chicopee, Massachusetts. Among various jobs over his lifetime, Bill enjoyed working as an Assistant Manager for Firestone and later retired from the St. Pete Times where he was employed as a Commercial Driver. He loved being out on the road and meeting people. Bill is survived by his son, Thomas Estes and girlfriend Carol of Enfield, CT; daughter Katherine Hotaling and boyfriend Don of Trescott, ME; and daughter Cheryl Chapman of Vernon, CT. He leaves his grandchildren Robert Markewicz, Jonathon Markewicz, Michael Chapman and Caitlyn Chapman. Bill is also survived by his former wife, Deborah Day Emery of Suffield, CT. His cat Patsy will also miss him. Bill was predeceased by his wife Lydia and is survived by his three stepchildren: Josh, Richard and Robert. Bill loved and cared for his cats, Tiger, Blackie, Patsy and Blackie II. He was the Red Sox’ number one fan and also followed the Patriots and the Boston Bruins teams. He was happiest working in his yard and visiting with his neighbors. He leaves behind his loving friends, Marino, Rob, Pat, Clyde, John, Jim and David. Bill was the most kind-hearted man and would help anyone in need. He was independent and honest in all ways. His dearest friend Marino said it best: “I will miss him always; he was one of a kind.”
