Oh how we enjoyed the 4th of July in Chatham that summer! Deb was so funny saying how she had her cooling towel to keep her cool. She was the best and will be greatly missed .

I am so saddened to hear of this heartbreaking news. I met Deb in NJ while living in Sun Valley before kids. She was so fun!
Deb and I commuted to the city. I loved taking the train with her each morning as she was always so full of funny stories . Wow. I cannot believe she’s gone.  I am so sorry. We had our babies a month and a week apart. Jonathan? Then Izzy. Oh how I loved Deb. Oh jeez. She was such a great person full of love. She adored Jonathan. I am so happy she made it up to see Jonathan at college. We texted maybe a month prior. She had said how she couldn’t make his birthday and Joe it bothered her so much. I felt so bad for her. I wish I could have seen her to give her a hug. I love Deb🩷💔. I will miss her so much. May she rest in peace and be happy with her dad ❤️🙏🏻.

My family was so saddened to hear about Deb’s passing since she was such a special friend to all of us.  She was like a second Mom to my daughters Sydney and Jules sometimes, taking time to listen to them when they were sad or needed extra support during their  teenage years.  She always had good advice, a sparkling smile and a warm hug when needed. 

Deb and I didn’t get to see each other as much as we would have liked, but we would stay connected via text or during long phone calls about life.  My heart always broke when she shared details about her on-going health struggles, and  I wished that she would catch a break but she never did.  Despite her struggles, she still always made sure to ask about others and was joyful to hear about good things happening with those around her.

I will remember Deb for her beautiful smile; the twinkle in her eyes; her kind heart; her natural curiosity about life and others; her warm hugs; and her deep love and devotion to Jonathan. 

She was so happy to send Jonathan off to the prom, and we all enjoyed celebrating Jonathan’s birthday with Deb and Judy one year.  We are glad to have these pictures to remember her by.  Sorry we missed her funeral due to a family member’s out of town funeral on the same day.

When I think of Debbie (to me she will always be "Debbie" as in "Lisa and Debbie," because that's what we called her), I think of reading Archie and Casper the Friendly Ghost comics on the floor of her bedroom.  She was the only person I knew that had comic books, and it was so much fun to come visit and read the comic books with her.    The Debbie I remember was always smiling and happy, and that is how I will always remember her.

I’ve known Deb since junior high but most of my memories are of high school where our friendship blossomed when we took a TV production class together. We were at the same table at prom and drove down to Wildwood for our after prom trip.

At some point over the years we lost touch, but we’ve been in contact many recent years since. We’ve shared our stories, the highs and lows as well as any victories big or small. Deb was always so sweet and appreciative of my check ins and I always appreciated her kind and supporting words even during her most struggling times. I knew Deb was having a really difficult time the last time we spoke. She tried her best to keep a positive attitude, but she admitted her illness was breaking her down. It was devastating to hear about what she was going through but she tried to be strong. She felt so lucky to have her family, especially her son Jonathan, and seeing him accepted to college was one of her proudest moments even though scary for her as it was unknown territory. 

Whether it be her love for Jon Bon Jovi or Days of our Lives, Deb loved everyone in her life with every ounce of her being and never wanted to let anybody down. Deb was a caring loving and kind soul. I know she is out of pain now and at peace. She will be the soft light that will shine on all of us forever. 

I will miss you Deb. The picture above will always remind me of one of your happiest days.

To my second Mom Deb,

I remember the first day I met you. You and I immediately started a mother and daughter relationship that was very strong. I visited you sometime even when Jonathan was not even home we would sit on the couch and look at pictures and talk about life. I would even call you Mom. You were a very special person in my life. You really made my life special because you were in it. I miss you more every day. Life isn’t fair to good people. I will be there for my baby brother Jonathan. My condolences and love for my best friend. I love you

So deeply sorry .  I am heartbroken over her loss.  Deb had a special heart, and made everyone feel connected.  I am comforted knowing she is with her sweet father, safe and free from pain.  She was blessed with a loving family.  You are all in my prayers. Her memory is a blessing to many.

Where to begin…Deb and I have known each other since I was 6 and she was 3, we lived next door to  each other,   In the childhood years, she was always thought of as Lisa’s little sister who was, and I say this with love, obsessed with Jon Bon Jovi. When  we became adults, she and I truly connected as friends, and decided to move into the city as roomies (the picture is from the day we moved into our apartment), the beginning of a crazy chapter in our lives. We lived through 9/11, anthrax, and all the craziness of that time. We also had the super fun NYC times that you get to experience living in the city. Deb eventually moved to NJ to start her next chapter, and I would go out and visit her, and eventually Jonathan, being a mom was truly her greatest joy in life. I would ultimately move out to Colorado, and when I would come back to NY,  Deb and I would meet up at my moms house, and sit around the kitchen table with my mom, having coffee and catching up. At some point along the years, she became my little sister, and I am now heartbroken, but I hope that she is at peace,   Love you Deb, until we meet again around mom’s kitchen table…

Deb first came into my life in the 7th grade, sometime in 1984.  While we ran in different circles at that time, we were continually cordial to each other over the course of six years between junior and senior high school.  We got somewhat reacquainted with the advent of social media in the late 2000s, but “knowing” someone on a social media platform is quite different than really knowing another person.

Most recently, she re-entered my life in early 2024.  I was looking for a part-time marketing individual for my small business, and she was looking to pick up part-time work that she could do from home.  We gelled almost immediately.  She was an ideal fit for the position and with that our friendship grew.  We both shared a great love of animals, as she would send me pics of her beautiful black cat, Quinn, and I would share photos of our three felines in our home here in Colorado.  She felt at ease talking to me about her illness and confided in me the health issues she struggled with over the last handful of years.  I understood that some weeks for her were good weeks while others were not so good, so my expectations of her as an employer were simple:  Just do what you can when you feel up to it.  As such, she never let me down.  She always wanted to make sure she was keeping up her end of the deal both as an employee and as a friend.

I paid Deb a visit back in late October of this year while I was in the area.  She snapped the selfie, shown above, the night of Thursday, October 30.  The plan was originally to have a nice dinner out nearby, but it was not meant to be.  She had fallen ill and I needed to escort her back home.  She insisted on taking this photo before she could be taken to the ER to be stabilized.  My camera-shy self is now grateful for this picture and the opportunity to visit with her, if only briefly.  I will miss her terribly, as she has had an impact on my life for the past two years.

Deb and I first met when we were 3 years old in preschool and became fast friends. Through us, our families became fast friends too. Growing up, the Greenberg’s were always a part of my world. Our parents often went out together and I spent a lot of time at their house and remember it so well. Debbie and I went to different junior highs but met up again in high school and were always friends. Debbie was great and was best known for her loyal love of Bon Jovi! I remember how she went to his house in NJ and met him one day. We went out a few times in our 20’s and lost touch after that though stayed connected on social media. I always loved seeing her posts and how her son was doing. I thought about reaching out and wish I had! Her passing is a shock. I have no words. She was truly a special person and I will always have her in my heart.
