Edward was the devoted husband of Susan Roth, with whom he shared 45 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they built a life rooted in love, partnership, and family. He was a proud and dedicated father to Jeffrey (Suzanne) Roth and Andrew (Stephanie) Roth, and a deeply cherished grandfather to Olivia, Madelyn, Ella, Charlotte, and Chloe, who brought him immense joy and pride.
Born in Allentown, Pennsylvania, Edward carried his strong values and work ethic throughout his life. He attended the University of Tulsa, where he was a collegiate tennis player, and later earned his MBA from the University of Missouri. It was there, in 1976, that he met the love of his life, Susan. They married in 1980 and began their family in Cranston, Rhode Island, before settling in New City in 1990.
Edward built a successful career as an executive in the toy industry before embracing his entrepreneurial spirit. In 2003, he founded his business, Merry Maids, growing it from the ground up with dedication and vision. He also pursued additional ventures, including involvement with 16 Handles frozen yogurt. His strong work ethic and determination left a lasting impression on his children, inspiring them to follow in his footsteps in business.
A lifelong sports enthusiast, Edward’s passion was unmistakable. He was a devoted fan of the Michigan Wolverines, the St. Louis Cardinals, and the St. Louis Blues, and he never missed a Michigan game. His enthusiasm for sports extended beyond spectating—he spent countless hours coaching his children’s teams, sharing not only his knowledge of the game but also his values of teamwork and perseverance. In retirement, he found new joy on the pickleball court, where his competitive spirit continued to shine.
Above all, Edward treasured time with his family. Whether cheering from the sidelines, gathering for celebrations, or simply enjoying everyday moments, he found his greatest happiness in being surrounded by those he loved. He shared a special bond with his beloved dog, Yogi, who was a constant companion.
Edward will be remembered as a generous and kind-hearted man, always willing to give his time and support to those in need. His legacy of love, dedication, and integrity will live on through his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He is also survived by his loving siblings, Larry Roth (Colleen) and Sandy Freeman (Mickey), along with many extended family members and dear friends.
In honor of Edward’s lifelong passion and unwavering spirit, we remember him with his favorite rallying cry: Go Blue!
