Elliot Kastein

Elliot Kastein passed away peacefully on Friday, June 10, 2022. He is survived by his loving wife, Grace, his daughters Marian (Jeffrey) Sager, and Barbara (Ronnie) Sobel, along with his beloved grandchildren, Melissa (Jonathan) Chaim, Aaron (Assel) Sager and great granddaughter Ada, Jared (Riana) Sobel and great granddaughter Sophie, and David Sager.

Elliot was born to Mollie and Louis Kastein on November 2, 1923. He grew up in Brooklyn, NY; graduated from Erasmus High School and served in the Army Air Corps from November, 1942 to March, 1946. After he was honorably discharged, he attended NYU, graduated with an accounting degree and became a practicing CPA. He loved his profession and continued to work well into his 90’s.

Elliot married the love of his life, Grace Cotler, on April 16, 1950. They were happily married for 72 years and always referred to Grace as his “bride”. They loved to travel and became “snowbirds”, sharing time between New York and Florida for over 20 years.

Elliot’s love for his family was unconditional. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren and great granddaughters. Elliot was known as a “charmer”, always smiling and interacting with people everywhere.

Elliot was the patriarch of his family, a quiet leader, with a heart of gold. Anyone who had the pleasure of knowing Elliot--Loved Elliot. He lived a fulfilling and wonderful life, and will be missed by all who knew him.

Graveside services are scheduled at Sharon Gardens Cemetery, 273 Lakeview Avenue, Valhalla, NY. Please meet at the main entrance at 1:00PM Thursday, June 16, 2022.
