June Howard was an important inspiration in my life choice to become a hair colorist. She was talented a consummate professional with a huge heart and very intelligent. I worked with June in Suffern write out a beauty school and I had so much to learn. June was very protective about her formulations but eventually with my determination she shared tidbits of information which helped me out tremendously through the years. Her involvement in women’s rights to vote never ending appetite to continually learn made her evermore interesting. She loved her family and I remember how she worried when her husband became ill. June was a very caring person and always had an open ear . Her own story was an open book and was there for anyone to learn from her life experiences.I am happy to know that June lived a long life doing what she loved behind the chair creating colorful masterpieces! Love and support to all of her survivors.

June was my hairdresser and friend for many many years. Her talent as a colorist surpassed anyone, including the high end salons in NYC.  When I first met her she decided that I was a 'natural red head' and made that happen. I never received more compliments on my hair color in all the years that June took care of me (which was over 20 years). More than a colorist, she was my friend. She gave me so much guidance about life and reminded me to laugh about silly things. She loved to share her latest book review or recipe. Her dedication to her trade surpassed anyone and I always loved telling the story of how at 93 years of age, she still came to the shop to color my hair. One day she was driving to the shop and she was in an accident. The car had flipped over and landed on a fire hydrant (with fresh red paint on it). When the emergency responders arrived they thought that she was covered in blood - she was fine. She kept telling them that she had to get to a hair appointment - little did they know that this little woman was going to work - not to get HER hair done. 
She was a mother, daughter, fighter and  talented artist who loved to paint and sculpt. She gave me some lovely paintings and did a small sculpture of my husband and I when I moved to my new home.  She was active in water conservation and she always reminded me of her involvement with getting women the right to vote. She was actively involved in the league of women voters for many years. She was a member of the book club at Suffern Library and always enjoyed expanding her knowledge of everything that life offered to her.
She spoke of her children, her beloved father and husband as well as the mother that she lost when she was very young.  I can hear her telling me stories now - 
I have thought of her often through the years and I loved her. She will be missed.
