Melvyn Jay Steinhardt

age of 86 on December 1st at Villa Marie Hospice House in Saddle River, New Jersey

surrounded by his family.

Melvyn is predeceased by his parents Nathan and Sally, and his sister Roberta Schwartz. Born in the Bronx, New York, Melvyn graduated from Brooklyn Community College and is a Veteran from the US Army 101st Airborne Signal Battalion. He is survived by his wife of 63 years Thea, daughter Sherri and her husband Glen Heller , his son Steven and his wife Andrea Steinhardt, his adopted daughter Nellie Smythe along with his 3 grandsons Jason and Mark Heller and Joshua Steinhardt.

Mel was employed by the county of Rockland at the Robert L Yeager Health Center as a head chemist until his retirement in 1994. He was also a co-owner of Ritter Clinical Labs in Spring Valley NY and Suffern NY with his wife Thea. He was a member of the Knights of Pythias, Jewish War Veterans and the IAJBBSC organization. Mel was a avid sports fan of all New York teams.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, December 3rd 2023, 10:45 AM at Hellman's Memorial Chapel at 15 State Street in Spring Valley NY. Interment will follow at the family plot at the Jewish Community Center Cemetery on, Brick Church Road Spring Valley.
