Myra Iris Haberman

Myra (Mickey) Haberman of Suffern, NY passed away on April 4, 2025. She was 89 years of age. Mickey was born on December 31, 1935 in Brooklyn, NY to Paul and Rose Kaplan, who predecease her. Because Mickey was born on December 31, she had to wait a whole year for her birthday!!!

Mickey graduated from Lafayette High School in Brooklyn. On a blind date, Mickey met her soon to be beloved Irwin Haberman in the fall of 1953, and after Irwin served his country in the United States Army, Mickey and Irwin were married on March 11, 1956. Together with Irwin, they built a wonderful life, full of love and enjoyment, where every day was precious for 53 years of wedded bliss.

With five children and seventeen grandchildren, there was never a dull moment. After Irwin passed in 2009, Mickey was blessed to be the great grandmother of 23 great grandchildren. Mickey was devoted to her late husband, her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and in turn, they were all devoted to her. Nothing was more important than her family. The weekly Shabbat gatherings and the holidays celebrated at Pine Road will always be treasured (and Mom, this year you won’t have to change the dishes for Passover!!!).

Mickey is survived by her children Barry (Robin) Haberman, Paul Haberman and Amy Haberman, Ellyn (Mitchell) Egenberg, Wayne (Naomi) Haberman and Melissa (Paul) Crowe. Nanny will be deeply missed by her grandchildren: Jeffrey (Amanda), Jenny (Evan), Jillian (Leo), Jacob (Rebecca), Rebecca (Drew), Chelsea (Fernando), Davi (Shayna), Aaron (Amanda), Daniel (Katya), Travis (Jennifer), Tzachi (Yifat), Moti (Amanda), Dylan, Nurit, Rachel (Jacob), Reilly (Erika) and Brady. She was predeceased by her beloved sister, Tanya Auerbach. Mickey is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 6, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Congregation Shaarey Israel, 18 Montebello Rd, Suffern, NY 10901. Interment will follow at Cedar Park Cemetery, 735 Forest Ave, Paramus, NJ 07652. Memorial contributions may be made in Mickey's memory to United Hospice, Inc., 111 Stokum Lane, New City, NY 10956.
