Shelley Fay Ruderman passed away on June 26, 2023 peacefully at Harbor Hospice in Houston. Born September 26, 1945, she was a lifelong resident of New York until a recent move to Katy, Texas. She was born in Corona, Queens, and grew up in Spring Valley with her sisters Willyce (Barr) and Abby (Selman-Pait). She married Larry Ruderman in 1970 and lived in Pomona for over 35 years.
A graduate of Oneonta College with a major in mathematics education. She taught 7-8 grade mathematics in the East Ramapo School District for 33 years. She was active in Temple Beth El and the Reform Temple of Rockland. Mah Jong was her love and tried to play every week.
Shelley is survived by her beloved husband Larry, their two daughters, and spouses, Beth (Christopher) and Marisa (Stephen). She was a loving grandmother to Zoey Rose, Austin Allen and Riley Jude. She is also survived by her sister Willyce and brother-in-law Harvey Barr and her nieces and nephews Shari (Craig), Amy (David), Pamela (Brad), Matthew (Penina), David (Katie), Eric, and Kimberly (Dan). She was predeceased by her parents Barnet and Beatrice Selman, sister Abby Selman-Pait and brother-in-law Allen Pait.
Funeral services will be held at Hellman Memorial Chapels, 15 State Street, Spring Valley, NY July 2, 2023 at 10:45 AM. Interment will take place at Congregation Sons of Israel Cemetery, New Hempstead, NY. Please contact Hellman Memorial Chapels for shiva information (845) 356-8600
