Danny (Dan) R. Stacy, 69, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, January 25, 2026 in Centerville, Ohio. He was born in Vansant, Virginia on February 24, 1956 to the late Kenneth and Loraine Stacy.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Karen, of Springboro, Ohio; daughters, Tiffany R. Huffman (Kyle) and Brittany L. Troast (Bryan). His legacy continues through his four grandchildren: Louella, Calvin, Ophelia and Gaby; sister, Tammy K. Hartman (Myron); nephew Lance Hartman (Diana and daughter Avery); niece Kendra Hartman; Uncle “Duke” (Teresa) and Aunt Norma Jean (Leon). And lastly, was proud to have had over 100 first cousins.
After graduating from Mt. Gilead High School (Ohio), he earned a degree in Industrial Arts and Technology from Eastern Kentucky University, where he quickly met and married the love of his life. He later received a Master’s in Technology Education from Ball State University. Early in his career, Dan was a project engineer in Greenville, SC, later planting roots in Springboro, OH where he continued his engineering career at Heidelberg for 20 years. God’s next and final step for Dan’s career was to join the Centerville High School family to teach Industrial Engineering Technology until he retired in 2023 after 21 years in education. There, he considered himself more of a “facilitator of learning”, building a remarkable engineering program, sharing multiple victories with his students at Battle Bots competitions, but most importantly emphasizing to his students the value of character over academics. He humbly accepted the “Teacher of the Year” award and valued his countless long-lasting friendships with his students and co-workers.
Proud to be a “momma’s boy”, Dan loved his mother’s homemade quilts and chocolate gravy and biscuits, which later became a tradition within his own family. From a young age, he spent countless hours working alongside his father repairing magnetos for the oil fields, all the while attaining a strong work ethic. His love for music began when he was young. He loved a variety of music from gospel to ZZ Top and would often be found strumming his own chords on one of his many guitars either solo or with his four grandchildren. He cherished his time as a Pa-paw. He loved to design and build 3D printed objects for them, take them on golf cart rides to find “Chomp” the alligator while in Florida, take walks in search of acorns with his youngest granddaughter and most importantly, engineer hardware to protect his grandchildren from safety hazards around the house. He was a devoted and a comically overprotective father to his two precious daughters. He had a deep love and respect for his sons-in-law. From dirt bikes to Fat Boy Harleys, to ATV riding and building remote control cars, he was truly a kid at heart. He had a particular fondness for his dad’s 1977 Ford F-150, also known as “Red”. His refined palate always craved a pepperoni and mushroom pizza. A man of many talents, he developed a passion for woodworking, making beautiful items for his friends and family and started a business building custom-made mantles in which he was employed by Gold Key Homes as a side job for 20 years. He was an active member of Springboro Baptist Church for 39 years. Most importantly, the Lord grew his faith in Him and it became more natural for Dan to share with others the importance of eternal life with Jesus Christ.
