

Gwendolyn “Gwen” Chmiel, age 98, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2023. She was preceded in death by her mother Helen Fleig, her beloved husband Stanley Chmiel, her daughter Mary Rotterman, her daughter-in-laws Sandy Chmiel and Julie Chmiel.
Gwen is survived by her 11 children: Paul Chmiel, Barry (Patricia) Chmiel, Barbara (Daniel) Minogue, Jane (Tom) Howes, Pamela (Dan) Kruer, Larry Chmiel, James (Jennifer) Chmiel, Margie (Greg) Shultz, Christine Stapleton, Nancy (Mark) Rhule, John (Alisha) Chmiel.

Gwen was born on October 3, 1924 and was married to Stanley in November of 1943. The two of them moved to Springboro over 50 years ago in 1971 and together raised 12 wonderful children. She also became a grandmother to 29 grandchildren and 38 great grandchildren. Three more on the way!
She was an active member of the Springboro Mothers Club for many years and was also known area wide for her homemade pies that she made with great care at Chmiel’s Market in Tipp City, Ohio. Her service to Holy Trinity Church was what she treasured most in her work of devotion.
Gwen is a truly outstanding example of what it means to live a full and productive life and she has demonstrated in countless ways her commitment to the welfare and happiness of her friends and family and has been a positive influence in the lives of so many others.
Her kindness and most of all her love will be cherished by all who knew her.
A Visitation will be held from 5-7 pm, Friday, March 3, 2023 at Anderson Funeral Home, 40 North Main Street, Springboro, OH. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place the following day at 10:00 am, Saturday, March 4, 2023 at Saint Mary of the Assumption Church, 9579 Yankee Road, Springboro, OH. Burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made in Gwen’s name to either Day City Hospice of Dayton or The Alzheimer’s Association.
