Michael was a proud graduate of Trotwood Madison High School, growing up in an era where hard work, strength, and self-sufficiency were valued and expected. Those qualities remained with him throughout his life. As a young man, Mike loved the outdoors and treasured the time he spent fishing with his father and helping on the farm. Those simple moments became some of his most cherished memories.
Mike was deeply devoted to his family and took great pride in providing for them. He was also immensely proud of his service to his country. He served honorably in the United States Navy for ten years, rising to the rank of Hospital Corpsman Second Class (HM2). During his distinguished military career, he earned numerous commendations, including the Purple Heart. Mike was also a survivor of the tragic 1983 Beirut barracks bombing in Lebanon, an experience that reflected both his courage and resilience while serving alongside fellow service members.
Following his military service, Mike continued his lifelong dedication to helping others through a career in the medical field that spanned more than thirty years. He worked as a paramedic, respiratory therapist, and in several other medical roles where his skill and compassion touched countless lives. Throughout his career, he pursued higher education and professional development, earning degrees and training from institutions including Field Medical Service School, Pensacola Junior College, the University of the State of New York, and Sinclair Community College.
Outside of his work, Mike had many interests, including being an avid gun collector. Above all, however, he valued time spent with his family and friends.
