A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, Pat is survived by her two sons, four daughters, eleven grandchildren, one great-grandchild, as well as many nieces, nephews, brothers, sisters, and in-laws whom she dearly loved.
Pat was raised in St. Henry, Ohio, the oldest of twelve children. From a young age, she embraced a life of caring for others—first her siblings, and later her own children and grandchildren. She attended St. Henry High School, where she met the love of her life, Jim. Together, they built a beautiful life and were married for nearly 59 years.
After deciding to leave the demands of farm life, Jim and Pat moved their young family to Dayton, where they raised their seven children. They became deeply rooted in their Catholic faith and community, sending their children to Bishop Leibold School and Archbishop Alter High School. They have been members of St. Henry parish for 54 years, living out their faith with devotion and commitment. Pat also generously gave her time to various local charities, including The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and the Down Syndrome Association of Dayton.
As her children grew older, Pat entered the workforce and held several roles, though her favorite was serving as a Regional Manager for Fine Jewelry at Macy’s. She took pride in her appearance—always polished, always wearing her makeup and jewelry—and found joy in gardening, reading, and baking for those she loved.
Pat was known to family and friends as nurturing, patient, faith-filled, and deeply loving. Her faith defined her life. Raised in a strong Catholic family, she carried that legacy forward with unwavering devotion. Even in life’s most difficult moments—including the heartbreaking loss of her seven-year-old daughter, Tammy, and the suffering she endured in her final years—Pat never wavered. Instead, she leaned more deeply into her faith.
A natural caregiver and matriarch, Pat was the heart and soul of her family. Her capacity for compassion, kindness, and unconditional love is impossible to fully express. Her devotion to children was a constant throughout her life. No one brought her more joy than her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild. Until her final day, her face would light up at the sight of them.
As a mother of seven, Pat poured every ounce of herself into her family, often setting aside her own needs in service of what she believed to be her most important role. Her belief in her children was unwavering, and her love for them was infinite.
She is survived by her husband, James (Jim) Koesters and her children: Doug (wife Dawn; children Chloe and Regan), Brenda (husband Rob; children Courtney and Thomas, wife Christi, and great-grandson Teddy), Todd (wife Saundra; daughter Katie), Jackie (husband Roman), Amy (husband Dave; children William, Ella, and Lilly), and Kim (husband Brian; daughters Sophia, Millie, and Payton Anne). She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Tammy, brothers Ron, Ken, Sam and Randy, her sisters and brother-in-law Joan, Beck and Elmer, her parents Roman and Mildred and her parents-in-law- Leonard, Marie and Paul. She is also survived by her sisters Sharon Uhlenhake (Dale), Joyce Johnsman (Steve), Diann Koeplic, brothers Bill Evers, Mike Evers (Ann), Frank Evers (Tammy), Nick Evers (Pam), sisters-in-law Rosie Evers, Janet Evers, Jean Mueller, Charlene Grieshop (Lou), Kathy Broerman (Roger), Judy Gaerke (Jack), Mary Cahill (Matt), brothers-in- law, Gerald “Hap” Brunswick, Bill Koesters (Kathy), Mike Koesters (Jane), Dave Rammel, Nick Koesters (Darlene), Steve Koesters (Joyce), and Frank Koesters (Diane).
Pat will be remembered always for the light she brought into the world and the love she so freely gave to all who were blessed to know her.
