Michael Deliman passed away peacefully on February 18, 2020, in Fairfax, VA. Born August 15, 1928, in Perth Amboy, NJ, the cherished son of Anna (Guback) and Michael Deliman, and beloved brother of sisters, Irene and Margie. He was a Petty Officer First Class in the US Navy and served in World War II and the Korean War before he was honorably discharged.
Mr. Deliman retired from a career with the Federal Aviation Administration as an air traffic controller and systems analyst and enjoyed a second career with IBM.
He was a resident of Greensprings Village Retirement Community, in Springfield, VA, since 1998, where he enjoyed volunteering in the library for many years and leading the Rosary.
He is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Irene Popik and Margaret Kurta.
He is survived by his three sons: Mike Deliman (Donna), of Murrieta, CA; Timothy Deliman, of Gainesville, VA; and Patrick Deliman (Ginny) of Madison, MS; along with two grandsons, Christopher Deliman and Perry Deliman. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews, who knew him fondly as “Uncle Mike” or “Mickey.”
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, in Springfield, VA, on Thursday, February 27, at 11:00 am, with visitation beginning at 10:00 am. Following the mass, Mr. Deliman will be laid to rest at Quantico National Cemetery, in Quantico, Virginia.
