

Albert Neal Robinson, 62, passed away on Monday, August 22, 2011 at Memorial Medical Center following a courageous fight against cancer since 2007. Neal was born September 17, 1948 to Albert and Evelyn Robinson. He graduated from Neville High School in Monroe, LA, where he lettered in football and track & field. He earned his B.A. in Business Administration from Louisiana Tech University and proudly served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam conflict. Neal worked for more than 25 years at Bunn-O-Matic Corporation, beginning in 1986 as a District Sales Manager for the Southeastern United States. He was promoted to Regional Sales Manager and then to Regional Vice President for the Southeastern United States. In 1993 he served as Senior Vice President, US Sales & Customer Support. During 1999 he moved to the position of Senior Vice President, International Sales and most recently, he served as Senior Vice President, Global Projects. Neal authored articles and was featured in various food and beverage publications, where he gave insight from his leadership toward promoting best quality practices in the industry. He was always grateful for the opportunity to travel the world, for the people he worked with, and was a key member in expanding Bunn-O-Matic's international business. In 2009, Neal received the Specialty Coffee Association of Europe Lifetime Achievement Award. He took great pride in strengthening the coffee industry from "Seed to Cup." Neal greatly enjoyed a good game of golf, photography, reading, traveling, running, Civil War history and as a young man, he loved to water ski. He was preceded in death by his parents. Neal is survived by his fiance, Lisa Kay Burchfield of Traverse City, MI; daughter, Liza Marie Pliska Robinson of Canton, GA; and three sisters, Mary R. Sheppard (husband, Frank) of Monroe, LA, Janice Stracener (husband, Jesse) of Caldwell, TX, and Donna Claybaugh (husband, Jim) of St. Augustine, FL. Neal was a very generous and fun person who was always willing to lend a helping hand. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 25, 2011 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. A memorial ceremony will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Vaughn Beeman officiating.
