Adam L. Suchomski

He was born in Pinckneyville, IL on May 6, 1934, the son of Louis and Hattie (Ochap) Suchomski. Adam married Lois Davidson in Springfield on August 31, 1991. She preceded him in death.

Adam graduated from Pinckneyville High School in 1952, later studied engineering at the University of Illinois, and earned his bachelor’s degree from Southern Illinois University Carbondale. He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1954-1956, and the Army Reserves from 1956-1988. He retired as lieutenant colonel from the U.S. Army. Adam worked as a certified public accountant for the IRS from September of 1959 and retired after 35 years in January of 1995. He additionally ran a private practice for 20 years. Adam loved to swim and was a member of Colony West Swim Club where he was on the board of directors. He was also a board member of IRSE Credit Union for around 30 years. Adam was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and loved to fish in his spare time.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Audrey (Gajewski); siblings, Bernadette Turner and Sylvester Suchomski; and daughters, Jayne Hubbell and Joyce Gaggstatter.

Adam is survived by his daughters, Julie Suchomski of Springfield, IL and Janice Suchomski of Decatur, GA; grandchildren, Audrey (Christopher) Garrett of Springfield, IL and Emily Gaggstatter of Nashville, TN; siblings, Lawrence (JoAnn) Suchomski of Knoxville, TN, Gerald (Linda) Suchomski, M.D. of Nashville, TN, and Richard (Nancy) Suchomski of Northport, FL; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial Gathering: Family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at Butler Funeral Home- Springfield, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield.

Graveside Ceremony: 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at St. Mary Magdalen Cemetery in Pinckneyville, IL, with Rev. John Igwe, CM, officiating. Military honors will be provided by Army DOD and American Legion.
