Agnes LaVerne Harvey

LaVerne was born on June 25, 1927, in Springfield, IL, the daughter of Harry L. and Agnes (Senger) Lindsey.

She married Eugene E. Harvey in 1948. He preceded her in death in 1983.

LaVerne attended Sacred Heart Grade School and Sacred Heart Academy. Following marriage, she and Gene moved to Peoria. LaVerne worked for Caterpillar while Gene attended Bradley University. Upon graduation, they returned to Springfield where LaVerne worked for a local physician then the Bergners/Carsons Department Store, from which she retired.

She loved to travel and enjoyed European river cruises and visiting different countries. LaVerne joined Christ the King Parish in 1967 and was a volunteer there and at St. Joseph’s Home.

LaVerne was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Bernard and Thomas Lindsey; sister, MaryLynn Porter; son, Edward L. Harvey; and daughter, Karen Shea.

She is survived by her sons, David E. (Janice) Harvey of Peoria and Timothy E. (Polly) Harvey of Springfield; daughters, Kathleen (Warren) Lutz of Williamston, SC, and Lisa Harvey of Springfield; daughter-in-law, Jana Harvey; son-in-law, Steve Shea; fifteen grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Visitation and Mass of Christian Burial: Family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 1930 Barberry Dr., Springfield, followed by the Mass at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Mark Tracy, celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to Christ the King Parish or Sacred Heart Griffin High School.
