Agnes Laverne Simpson

Agnes Laverne Simpson, 69, of Springfield, passed away at 7:50 a.m. Sunday, April 8, 2001 at St. John's Hospital. Agnes was born December 26, 1931 the daughter of Orville and Sarah Clark Grant in Blue Mound, IL. She married Harold ''Bud'' Simpson May 14, 1969 in Springfield. He preceded her in death October 24, 1986. Mrs. Simpson was an active member of St. Joseph Church where she was a member of the Ladies Guild. She also volunteered for many years at the Knights of Columbus Council #364. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Harold ''Bud'' Simpson, one sister: Mary Dyer and several nieces and nephews. She is survived by a daughter: Joy Simpson of Springfield; one grandson: Sean Bryson of Springfield at home; three brothers: Steve (wife, Beverly) Grant of Wyanet, IL; Fred (wife, Julia) Grant of Walnut,IL, and Clarence (wife, Mary) Grant of Mt. Carroll, IL; a brother-in-law: Leland Dyer of Wyanet, IL; six sisters: Doris (husband, Harold) Spears of New Bedford, IL; Theresa Willis of Ft. Smith, AR, Gladys Hanson of Sandwich,IL, Barbara Quickle of Princeton,IL, Geneva (husband, Bill) Jenson of Walnut,IL, and Maxine Hughes of Illipolis, IL; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends may call at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, April 10, 2001. Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 11, 2001 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Reverend Patrick Render CSV celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
