

Alan Earl Kirby, 66, of Springfield, passed away on Saturday, August 22, 2015, at St. John’s Hospital. Alan was born on July 17, 1949, in Springfield, the son of Donald “Bo” and Esther Mae (Patton) Kirby. Alan married Jeanne Hale. Alan proudly served our country in the Army during Vietnam in Da Nang from 1970-1971. After his service to our country Alan worked for many years as a supervisor for CWLP. He was a member of Northender’s VFW Post 10302 where he was a Post Quarter Master, American Legion, Veterans of America, and was an avid Cardinals fan.
Surviving Alan is his loving wife Jeanne Kirby of Springfield, his daughter Ericka (Mark) Winkler of Springfield, grandchildren: Brandon Winkler, SPC. Austin Bagwell, Lance Winkler, Alexandria Winkler, great-granddaughter Joslynn Hart, mother Esther Mae Kirby, brothers; Kenneth (Polly) Kirby of Riverton, Donald (Jacqie) Kirby of Buffalo, IL, sister Cindy Kirby of Buffalo, IL, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Alan was preceded in death by his father Donald Kirby.
Funeral services are under the direction of Bisch & Son Funeral Home, 505 E Allen St. Springfield, IL, 62703. A funeral service officiated by Pastor John Keyes will be on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. The family will receive guests at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the time of service. Following services Alan will be laid to rest at Camp Butler National Cemetery where military honors will be performed by the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County.
Those who wish may leave memorials in Alan’s name to Northender’s VFW 10302 or to the Land of Lincoln Honor Flight.
