

Albert P. Gaydos, 90, of Springfield, died at 2:04 a.m. on Wednesday, January 31, 2007 at Memorial Medical Center. Albert was born on January 1, 1917 in Virden, the son of George Thomas and Mary V. O’Premchak Gaydos. He married E. Ursula O’Shea on November 27, 1954 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. He was a WWII U.S. Army Veteran achieving the rank of Tech 5. During his service time he was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Ribbon with one Bronze Star and the American Defense Ribbon. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He was employed as a coal miner and retired from Freeman Crown Mine. He was preceded in death by two brothers: John Gaydos and Leonard Gaydos and one sister: Leona Billota. He is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, E. Ursula Gaydos of Springfield; one son, Lawrence (wife, Julie Slack) Gaydos of Springfield; two grandchildren: Natasha and Dane Gaydos of Springfield; one brother: Edward (wife, Anna Marie) Gaydos of Springfield; one sister: Mary Louise Micklus of Virden and several nieces, nephews and cousins. The family welcomes friends to visit from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 2, 2007 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield. Visitation will begin with prayer at 4:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 3, 2007 at St. Katharine Drexel Parish at Sacred Heart Church, 700 S. 12th St., Springfield with Very Rev. James Dennis O’Shea, V.F. celebrant. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery where the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County will perform military honors.
