

Alfred H (Hank) Braner, JR. 81, of Pleasant Plains, passed away at his home on Thursday, May 3. Born December 12, 1930, in Springfield, the son of Alfred H and Mary Elizabeth (Jameson) Braner. He is preceded in death by his parents, first wife Genevieve Willard-Braner, son Robert H. Braner, sister Dorothy Sheley and brother James D. Braner. He is survived by his wife Barbara Sharp-Braner, who he married in 1976 and seven chidren, daughters Vickie Bryant (husband Rick); Kathryn Reiser (husband John); and son James Braner (wife Michelle) all of New Berlin; sons Steve Braner of Las Vegas, NV; Michael Braner of Sterling, IL; Timothy Nudo of Centralia, IL and Derek Guernsey (wife Heidi) of Pleasant Plains, IL; sister Elaine Sunley of New Berlin, IL, seventeen grandchildren, fifteen great- grandchildren, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Hank attended New Berlin High School and was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the Navy on the U.S.S. Manchester. He was a Boilermaker by trade, working out of Local 363 for over 20 years. He also worked for George Otto Boiler and Alas Chalmers in Springfield. He was co-owner of Pro Fab, a fabrication shop and Merivic, a field company that served the grain industry with maintenance and new equipment erection, headquartered in Morton, Illinois, retiring in 1996. His hobbies were building streetrods, attending car shows, and working around his farms. His first priority in life was his family.
Visitation for Hank will be held on Monday, May 7 from 4-7 pm at Bisch Funeral Home West, 2931 S Koke Mill Rd, Springfield, IL 62711.
Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, May 8 at 10:30 am at Farmingdale Presbyterian Church, 7971 Farmington Cemetery Road, Pleasant Plains, IL 62677, with the family receiving guests from 10 am until the time of service. Rev. Lonna C Lee will conduct the services.
Burial will follow at Farmington Cemetery, with the United States Navy performing Military Honors.
