Alice Ann McElroy

She was born in Litchfield, IL, February 14, 1960 to daughter of Alfred G. and Mary C. (Behl) Witt. She married Richard McElroy June 7, 1975 and they later divorced.

Alice retired in 2013 after 34 years of service with the State of Illinois Department of Human Services. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Decatur, IL. She loved to vacation to Daytona Beach, FL. Her favorite holiday was Halloween. She loved decorating her house and entertaining others.

Alice loved her family and was extremely proud of their accomplishments.

Surviving are her daughter, Stacy (husband Courtney) Macke of Sylva, N.C., her son, Matthew (fiancée Andrea Kane) McElroy of Springfield, 5 grandchildren, her two sisters; Linda (husband John) Hewitt of Springfield and Jeannie (husband Tony) Miller of Virden, IL, her brother, Alfred (wife Sheila) Witt of St. Louis, MO and her dear companions, her dogs Rosie and Max.

Cremation rites were accorded by Bisch Crematory.

A memorial service will be held Saturday June 27, 2015 at 11:00 am at Trinity Lutheran Church, Girard, IL with Rev. Keith GeRue officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Animal Protective League in Springfield, IL.
