

Ann Sydnor, 93, of Springfield, died at 3:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 18, 2018, at Memorial Medical Center. Betty Ann Sydnor was born on October 25, 1924 in Elizabeth, NJ, to Heloise and Harold Sydnor. She graduated from Westfield High School and Barnard College in 1946 with degrees in History and International Relations. She married Jock Gentry of Seattle, WA, and later taught dancing at Arthur Murray Dance Studio in New York City for 12 years, appearing often on their TV show. In 1959, she worked at Corning Glass and Owens for many years in Toledo, OH before working for the Toledo Housing Authority in 1966. Ann was married to Melvin Henry Mull for 30 years before moving to Springfield. Ann pampered many cats, most of them grateful rescue animals. She was an avid flower gardener, loved to shop, entertain, travel, and visit friends. She is most remembered for being outspoken, fashionable, feisty, quirky, and a lot of fun! Ann was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Richard Sydnor; and nephew, Brenton Sydnor. She is survived by her brother, Hal (Lore) Sydnor; nephews, Justin (Ann) Sydnor and Ryan (Soo) Sydnor, Rick and Kevin Sydnor; niece, Bobbie (James) Woods; step-son, John (Evelyn) Mull; and step-daughters, Sandra Mull and Beth Ann (Terry) Posey, who are grateful for the civility she brought to their home. Cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center. Memorial Gathering: Family will receive friends from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 21, 2018, at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th Street, Springfield. Private family burial will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park. The family is grateful to the wonderful caregivers at Memorial Hospital and Regency Care.
