Ann E. Welch, of Springfield, passed away at 3:24 p.m. on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at her home. Ann was born March 18th in Galesburg, IL, the daughter of Patrick J. and Anna E. Wynn Conlon. She married Charles J. Welch on October 10, 1942 in New Orleans, LA; he preceded her in death on November 11, 1981. Ann attended Knox College and Brown's Business College. She was employed as a librarian with the State of IL, Department of Children and Family Services, retiring in 1979. Ann was a member of Blessed Sacrament Parish. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Marian Lindsey and Lucille Gadbois. She is survived by her son, Charles "C.J." (wife, Janet) Welch of Columbia, MO; two daughters, Patricia Ann (husband, Michael) Collins of Carlinville and Pamela W. (husband, Darrel) Balmer of Springfield; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. Per her request, private family ceremonies will be held at Camp Butler National Cemetery. The family wishes to thank her excellent caregivers.
