

Arnold William Dahlhauser, 79, of Springfield, died at 6:10 p.m. Wednesday April 4, 2001 at his residence in Springfield. He was born May 8th, 1921 in Akron, Colorado, the son of John & Helen Schaecher Dahlhauser. He married Lucille DeMent June 9th, 1943 in Peoria, Illinois. She preceded him in death August 31, 1998. Mr. Dahlhauser was a graduate of Peoria Central High School. He was a US Army Air Force Veteran of World War II, earning several medals including the American Theater Service Ribbon, Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one Bronze Star, and the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Service Ribbon. He had been employed by Western Electric Corporation, State Farm Insurance Company, and Lens and Camera while he lived in Peoria. Upon moving to Springfield, he helped build CA Dawson Company and then continued employment there. He then worked as an electrician in the Engineering department at Memorial Medical Center, where he retired in 1986. He then worked at Marine Bank (now Bank One) for 8 years. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Joseph Choir, Bunn Park 4-Guys Golf Club, and a former member of Sertoma Club. He was a devoted family man. Mr. Dahlhauser was also preceded in death by a brother- Harry Dahlhauser. Surviving is his son- Steve (wife-Cindy) Dahlhauser of Peoria; daughters- Barbara Wik, Deborah (husband- Jack) Pierson, Jennifer (husband- Frank) Barnard, and Elizabeth (husband-James) Cadwell- all of Springfield; 8 grandchildren- Jennifer Wik, Eric Wik, Jonathon Wik, Laurie Janes, Jennifer Cadwell, James Cadwell, Zachary Pierson, and Garrett Pierson; 1 great grandson-Alec Janes; two brothers- Pete Dahlhauser and John Dahlhauser-both of Nebraska; three sisters- Esther Winkler of Peoria, Mildred Williams of Peoria, and Margaret Zobrist of Morton, Illinois; and many nieces and nephews; and dear friend- Dorothy Jean Ferrara. Visitation will be from 4-7:00 p.m. Sunday April 8th, 2001 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 South Sixth Street in Springfield. Funeral Mass will be at Noon Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Rev. Patrick Render CSV celebrant. Burial will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery, where the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County will conduct military honors.
