

Arthur Bogenschutz, Jr., 77, of Springfield, passed away at 4:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 15, 2002, at Villa Healthcare East. Arthur was born August 29, 1924 the son of Arthur and Annette Ursula Herrin Bogenschutz in Springfield. He married Claire Gietl September 10, 1949 at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Springfield. He retired in 1982 as an engineer from Illinois Bell Telephone Company after 34 years of service. He was a Charter Member of Christ the King Catholic Church where he was also a trustee and Eucharistic Minister. He was a member of the Holy Name Society, the Telephone Pioneers and Knights of Columbus Council #364. He enjoyed dancing and had a general love of music. He also enjoyed working with his hands, photography, genealogy, travel and swimming. What gave him most enjoyment in his life was his family. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Robert Bogenschutz. He is survived by his wife: Claire of Springfield; three daughters: Janice (husband, David) Kerwin of Springfield, Sr. Barbara Ann Bogenschutz, OP, of Dodson, Montana, Rose Marie Wagehoft of St. Joseph, IL; two sons: David (wife, Peggy) of Lake Villa, IL; Alan (wife, Rhonda) of Buffalo Grove, IL; ten grandchildren; one niece, one nephew and several cousins. Friends may call at Christ the King Catholic Church from 4:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday, January 17, 2002 with a wake service at 4:30 p.m. Concelebrated Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 18, 2002 at Christ the King Catholic Church with Reverend David Lantz Principal Celebrant. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Christ the King Parish, 1930 Barberry Drive, Springfield, IL 62704 or St. John’s Hospital Adult Day Care, 800 E.
