

Arthur “Bud” Moore, 79, of Springfield, died at 7:16 p.m. on Monday, February 6, 2006 at St. John’s Hospice. Bud was born on June 15, 1926 in Springfield, the son of Arthur and Helen Gertiser Moore. He married M. Jeanette Dickerson on October 30, 1948 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. He was a WWII and Korean Navy War veteran receiving the Korean Service Ribbon and the United Nations Service medal. He retired in 1985 as Battalion Chief from the Springfield Fire Department. He was a member of Knights of Columbus Council 364, life member of VFW Post 10302, Navy Club and Springfield Association of Retired Firefighters. He was preceded in death by three grandsons: Jason William Moore, Michael Arthur Moore and James Frank Moore; three brothers and one sister. He is survived by his wife; Jeanette Moore of Springfield; six children: Bill (wife, Gale) Moore of San Marcos, CA, Bob Moore of Springfield, Jim (wife, Sofia) Moore of Shelley, ID; Mary (husband, Bill) Minder of Springfield, Ann Moore of Springfield, Tom Moore of Joliet; eleven grandchildren; three great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 9, 2006 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m. The Springfield Fire Department Local #37 will post an honor guard during visitation. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 10, 2006 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1345 N. 6th St., Springfield with Rev. Msgr. Thomas P. Holinga, VF, celebrant. Burial will follow in McKinnie Cemetery, Springfield Township, Illinois where the Interveterans Burial Detail will conduct military honors.
