Barbara "Barb" Jean Klemm

Barb was born March 8, 1953, in Moline, IL, the daughter of Calvin and Doris Nelson Peterson. She married William Klemm on June 26, 1971, in Geneseo, IL.

Barb graduated from Geneseo High School in 1971 and earned her bachelor’s degree from Sangamon State University. She was employed with the Springfield Police Department until 1993, retiring as Deputy Chief. Barb was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Barb treasured spending time with her grandchildren, and enjoyed playing cards with them, sneaking them treats, and watching them play sports. She was an avid lover of being outdoors, gardening, and caring for animals. Barb had a very compassionate heart and was always willing to help anyone in need. Her greatest joy was helping raise her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Barb is survived by her husband, William Klemm of Chatham; daughters, Heidi (fiancé, Daniel Sheehan) Klemm of Chatham and Heather (Scott) Klemm-Fieser of St. Louis, MO; grandchildren, Madelinn and Emma Glatz of Chatham and Wil and Levi Fieser of St. Louis, MO; mother, Doris Peterson of Geneseo; sisters, Joyce Petersmith and Nancy Denys, both of East Moline; and eight nieces and nephews.

Cremation was provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies.

Memorial Gathering: Family will receive friends from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 29, 2022, at Butler Funeral Home-Chatham, 8855 State Route 4, Chatham, IL.
