

Barbara H. Humphreville, 84, of Springfield, died at 12:20 p.m. Sunday, February 1, 2004 at St. John’s Hospital. Barbara was born October 29, 1919 in Sioux City, IA, the daughter of Don E. and Agnes Regnier Hopkins. She married Eugene “Gene” Humphreville on May, 14, 1949 at St. Edmunds Church in Oak Park, IL. Mrs. Humphreville was a graduate of Rosary College in Chicago, IL. She was a resident of Chicago from 4th grade through the early days of her marriage. In 1945, she spent one year in Europe setting up libraries for the U. S. Army of Occupation. From 1966 to 1984, she was employed as a Librarian for Springfield School Discrict #186. She was a member of the Special Librarian’s Association, St. Joseph’s Home Coterie and Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church where she volunteered as librarian. She was preceded in death by her parents; a twin brother, Fr. Martin Hopkins, OP and brother, Don E. Hopkins, Jr. She is survived by her husband, Eugene of Springfield; two sons: Mark (wife, Cynthia) of Columbus, OH and David (wife, Sian) of New York City, N. Y.; five daughters: Marilyn (husband Philip) Boria and Donna (husband, John) Evans both of Elmhurst, IL, Joanne Humphreville of Chicago, IL, and twins Judith Humphreville and Anne (husband, Robert) Biebel both of Atlanta, GA; eight grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will receive friends from 5 – 8:00 p.m., Tues., February 3, 2004 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St. in Springfield. There will be a prayer service at 5:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Wed., February 4, 2004 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with Rev. Msgr. Kevin Vann, celebrant. Burial will be in Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Chicago, IL at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Martin De Porres, 1725 South Grand Ave. East, Springfield, IL 62703. The family of Barbara Humphreville is being served by Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home and Cremation Tribute Center, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield.
