Barbara Dolf Lambert

She was born in Marquette, MI on December 14, 1922, the daughter of Carl Ernest Dolf and Ruth Anderson Dolf. Having graduated from Graveraet High School, she studied Dental Hygiene at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor during the early years of World War II.

After graduation, she worked in dental offices near Ann Arbor, but soon became engaged to a handsome dentist from Springfield, IL whom she had met on the campus of the University of Michigan, when he counseled her on her upcoming wisdom tooth extraction. She married L. Dale Lambert in the University of Michigan Womens League chapel on February 26, 1944. Things moved quickly in wartime. The young couple was sent to San Francisco, California, where Dale had orders for shore duty at the Naval Training station.

At the end of World War II, they moved to Springfield, IL, where Dale opened a dental practice. She raised three daughters and helped with the dental practice.

Barbara never forgot the beauty of her childhood home in Marquette, MI, and the couple moved there in 1976 to work in dentistry as they finished building the house of Barbaras dreams located on the shores of Lake Superior. They moved back to Springfield in 1978 and continued to practice dentistry until Dales retirement in 1987.

Her affiliations included the G.V. Black Dental Auxiliary and Hope Evangelical Free Church. Barbara loved traveling and summers in Marquette, MI, but most of all she loved her family. Until her eyesight failed, she wrote letters each year to every loved one to let them know she was thinking of them.

She is survived by her three daughters, Frances (William) Hails of Littleton, CO, Louise (Woody) Hester of Springfield, and Phyllis (Michael) Korybalski of Ann Arbor, MI; eight grandchildren, Jennifer Hails (Mustapha) Hedda, David Hails, Hong Ngu Hails (Michael) Liebno, Jonathan (Amy) Hester, Jason (Lindsay) Hester, Joshua (Andrea) Hester, Jessica Hester (Casey) Reid, and Daniel Korybalski; and fifteen great-grandchildren.

Private family ceremonies will be held and burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery with Pastor Brian Mills officiating.
