Barbara Ann Minder

Barbara was born August 4, 1935 in Virden, the daughter of Isaac E. and Marian Eleanor Oliver Smith. She married Lawrence O. Minder on August 10, 1957 in Springfield, IL; he preceded her in death on July 30, 1997.

Barbara was a 1953 graduate of Virden High School finishing at the top of her class. She was a homemaker and held a few different jobs over the years at the State of Illinois, INB Bank, and she sold Country Peddler. Barbara was a member of Christ Episcopal Church. She served as a Sunday School Teacher at both Christ Episcopal Church and The Cathedral Church of St Paul. Barbara liked to decorate, sew, crochet, read and travel to the East Coast. She loved spending time with her family and enjoyed animals. She was also a huge sports fan and loved watching the New England Patriots, Green Bay Packers, Chicago Bulls, St. Louis Cardinals, college basketball, football, and NASCAR.

She was also preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her daughters, Tracy (Jim) Meyer of Auburn and Stephanie (David) Ketchum of Petersburg; son, Evan (Tracey) Minder of Petersburg; nine grandchildren, Erin Saccomano, Andrea (Glendon) Bradley, Eric (Jessica) Cawley, Noah Meyer, Natalie Meyer, Nick (Jennifer) Ketchum, Miranda Jane (Chris) Jamrock, Olivia Minder, and Payton Minder; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Charlotte (Michael) Grounds of Springfield; and several nieces and nephews and cousins.

Funeral Ceremony: 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 11, 2018 at Christ Episcopal Church, 611 East Jackson Street, Springfield, with The Rev. Dr. Gregory A. Tournoux officiating. Burial will follow at Concord Cemetery in Petersburg.
