

Barb was born on February 4, 1930, in Litchfield, the daughter of Leo and Faye (File) Lorenz. She married James Frederick Striplin on May 17, 1946; he preceded her in death on November 18, 2001.
Barb was employed as a bus driver for the Chatham School District for 15 years and previously worked at the Office of the Secretary of State for 17 years. She was a member of the Women’s Club of Chatham and enjoyed entertaining friends and family, shopping, traveling, and reading. Barb was also an avid supporter of various veterans’ groups.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and son-in-law, Stuart Colwell.
She is survived by her daughters, Brenda Colwell of Coventry, RI, Joyce (husband, Al) Benton of Springfield, and Janet (husband, William “Ernie”) Jones of Springfield; grandchildren, Shelley Moore, Brooke Wallace, Dustin Lowe, and Aron Chabot; four great-grandchildren, Chad Moore, Ciara Ciani, Parker Harmony, and Luna Chabot; and sister, Marilyn Linton of Belleville.
Cremation was provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center—Chatham.
A private family graveside service will be held at Cedar Ridge Cemetery in Honey Bend, IL at a later date.
