Barbara Teich, 93, formerly of Springfield, IL, died peacefully the morning of Saturday, February 1, 2025, at her home in Scottsdale, AZ. Barbara was born September 7, 1931, in Wausau, WI, the daughter of Earl and Pearl Bachman of Mosinee, WI. She graduated from Mosinee High School and then attended the Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Oshkosh, WI, where she received her nursing degree in 1952. While practicing as a nurse, Barbara met John C. “Jack” Teich in Milwaukee, WI, where he was attending Medical School at Marquette University. They married on June 16, 1956, at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Mosinee, WI, and were married for over 58 years until Jack preceded her in death on March 18, 2015.
Barbara and Jack started their married life with Jack serving in the Army at Fort Lewis, WA, Walter Reed Army Hospital in Washington, D.C. and Fort Meade near Baltimore, MD. After Jack (Dr. Teich) was honorably discharged from the Army in 1965, they and their six young sons settled in Springfield, IL, where Dr. Teich joined an OB/GYN medical practice.
Barbara completely loved and supported her husband and sons, and enjoyed visits with her extended family (siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins). She cherished when they could all be together, hosting relatives at her family’s home or traveling to attend family reunions. Her family has wonderful memories of welcoming out-of-town aunts, uncles, cousins or friends to their home to visit. She was gifted in planning and hosting parties and holiday celebrations, and leaves these fond memories with all of her children and grandchildren. Barbara was a member of Christ the King Parish for over 50 years and thoroughly enjoyed singing with the Parish Choir and the Springfield Symphony Choir for many of those years. She loved music and playing the piano, was an avid reader, and loved learning. Later in life, she earned her B.S. in Health Arts and completed substantial coursework towards a Masters in Counseling.
Barbara is survived by six sons, Thomas Teich D.D.S. of California, John (wife, Shawnee) Teich, Jr. of Phoenix, AZ, Michael (wife, Valerie) Teich D.D.S. of Scottsdale, AZ, Daniel (wife, Joyce) Teich of Richland, MI, Joseph Teich of Ormond Beach, FL, and David (wife, Monica) Teich of Cozumel, MX; 12 grandchildren, Amanda, Andrew, Christina, Christopher, Erica, Jessica, Cameron, Sarah Jane, Caroline, Ryan, Conner, and Geronimo; 19 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Richard (wife, Teresa) Teich D.D.
