Bernice Ferguson

Bernice E. Ferguson, 89, of Springfield, passed away at 3:02 p.m. on Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at Memorial Medical Center. Bernice was born May 16, 1922 in Lanesville, IL, the tenth of twelve children born to Alta and Samuel Scott. She married Joseph Guy Ferguson, Sr. on September 27, 1946 at West Side Christian Church; he preceded her in death in 1989. Bernice was a graduate of Illiopolis High School. She was a retired beautician and was a long time member of Christian Bible Church. Bernice loved being around her family and doing things with her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids. She was a very loved woman and will be greatly missed by all. She was also preceded in death her parents; six brothers; four sisters; and granddaughter, Sarah Ferguson. She is survived by three children, Samee (husband, George) Tannehill, Joseph G. (wife, Janet) Ferguson, and William (wife, Donna) Ferguson; six granddaughters, Ericka Tannehill, Angie (husband, Keith) Hodel, Aimee (husband, Ryan) Green, Rachel Ferguson, and Beka Ferguson; nine great-grandchildren, Elizabeth and Jessica Patrick (twins), Grace and Nicole Patrick (twins), Audra Hodel, Camden Green, Blaine and Cullen Hodel (twins), and Brody Green; sister, Gladys Moore; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 1, 2012 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Funeral Ceremony: 10:30 a.m. on Monday, April 2, 2012 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home with Pastor Scott Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
