

Betty Jean Barregarye died at 2:52 a.m. on Friday, July 3, 2015 on her 86th birthday at Lewis Memorial Christian Village with her son by her side. In her last days, Betty was surrounded by her daughter, grandchildren and close friends. Betty was born July 3, 1929 in Springfield, IL, the daughter of Lynn and Bertha Numrick Rountree, lovingly raised by her mother, Bertha and grandparents, John and Maggie Numrick, all deceased. Betty was a 1947 graduate of Feitshans High School. She married Richard Barregarye on August 29, 1947; he preceded her in death on February 28, 2012. Betty was a charter member of Woodside United Methodist Church (now Cotton Hill United Methodist Church) and a member of the chancel choir at Woodside for 20 years. She was a lifetime member of Springfield Ceramics and Crafts Club, Methodist Women, Ruth Circle and Beta Sigma Phi. She served as Queen Mother of Red Hats' Forever Red group. Betty is survived by her son, Rick (Freida) Barregarye of Deatsville, AL; daughter, Cindy (Rick) Coffman of Springfield; six grandchildren, Ryan (Constance) Barregarye of Prattville, AL, Kelly Barregarye (fiance, Pete Dorough) of Prattville, AL, Chad (Diana) Coffman of Houston, TX, Brenna (Chris) Venvertloh of Brookfield, IL, Ashleigh (Tim) Brinkman of Chatham, IL, and Shelby Barregarye of Deatsville, AL; six great-grandsons, Russell and Zachary Castleberry, Caleb and Carson Barregarye, all of Prattville, AL, Cameron Brinkman of Chatham, IL, and Bennett Venvertloh of Brookfield, IL; and one great-granddaughter, Charleigh June Coffman of Houston, TX. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:30-7:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 5, 2015 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Funeral Ceremony: 11:30 a.m. on Monday, July 6, 2015 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, with Celebrant Judy Woerner officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
